  Today was the day we buried my dad. A very sad day for all of us. Especially since we buried our mom almost 1 year ago. They have been members of the Parish for 55+ years. Raising their 5 children, each making most all the sacraments at this church. What a grave disappointment to choose to come back for my dads final visit to church. The Columbian priest that administered the service was beyond rude and judgemental. EVERY single person who came to say good-bye to my dad was appalled at his behaviour. Repremanding us as non-going parishioners because of talking before entering the church. He knew nothing of our family or our active role in our own churches and God. We have many people in our family who attend church weekly. What an embarrassment to have him JUDGE so harshly. He is not God and should have been there to do his service for our dad (what he was paid to do) Instead he criticized on things he had no knowledge of. He even got angry at someone helping with the ceremony at the time of preparing the incense. Shaking his finger at us like we were children who did something wrong. And to think the church gets paid for this type of sevice by the funeral home. It is no wonder so many catholics turn their backs on the church (not the religion) So many people choose not to go to church because of arrogant priests like this who believe what they practice and preach is the word of God. This is not the religion I know or was raised to be like. My parents may not have been an active part of St. Mary's later in life but at least they taught us how to love one another, how to behave, how not to JUDGE, how to be kind, how to pray and how to keep God in our lives. This priest did not even make this personal about our dad for those of us grieving the loss of our dad. All your parishioners should pray for him to be a better person and have a bit more compassion for grieving families. It was a disgrace for any priest to behave in this manner. And just a suggestion for your priest...maybe families can be given a brochure on how YOUR priest would like everyone to behave before planning a funeral and entering your church. I will be sure to make your parishioners know of this. Your church should be ashamed and ask for forgiveness.
